The proposed investigation must address the science questions that can be answered
by analyzing the particles obtained from the surface of asteroid Itokawa.
Participation is open to all researchers that are capable of handling and analyzing particles
that are in the size range of 20-50 micro-meters.

This International AO follows the Initial Analysis performed by pre-selected teams,
partial results of which have been published in the Science magazine in August 2011.
All proposals will be subject to peer review handled by the Implementation Committee
for the 1st HAYABUSA AO.

Successful proposers (HAYABUSA Sample Investigators) need to comply with the
Terms and Conditions given in the Guidebook.

JAXA provided NASA with a part of HAYABUSA samples in accordance with MOU between
JAXA and NASA. The Committee for JAXA's AO will make arrangements with the NASA's effort
so that systematic support to maximize scientific outputs from HAYABUSA Sample Investigation
as a whole will be realized.


This AO would be the first of a series to come. If you are interested in future opportunities,

The Sample Catalog will be enhanced and will serve better in future research opportunities
as the samples and analysis results are returned from the Investigators.

the Curator with.
